Resource Efficiency

The European Union is currently working on “Europe 2020” – a growth strategy for a resource efficient future. SERI is involved in 4 projects within the “Resource-efficient Europe” flagship initiative. The SERI-projects will deliver important inputs for the “Resource-Efficiency-Roadmap” for the EU member states and will use the chance of directly influencing political processes.

We are happy to introduce our new business manager: Mag. Petra Gölli succeeded Gabriela Christler and is now in charge of administration and finance at SERI. New SERI Project: Assessing Resource Indicators and Targets for the Europe 2020 Strategy (ARIT)

Resource efficiency is a part of the Europe 2020 strategy for a greener Europe. SERI’s contribution is the suggestion of resource use indicators for use in the EU resource use policy context and the recommendation of targets on resource use and resource efficiency in Europe.

In this study for the European Commission, SERI and Ecologic Institute identified environmental thresholds which, once crossed can lead to abrupt changes in the services provided by ecological systems and provided new sets of indicators.
