As in September 2013, Jill Jäger was invited again as an expert and a panel spokes-person to UN’s High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development’s (HLPF). HLPF is the successor of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) which was established by the UN General Assembly in December 1992 to ensure effective follow-up of United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) “Earth Summit”. In the frame of Rio+20 in 2012 all Member States agreed to establish the High-level Political Forum as replacement of the CSD. Further information about the first meeting can be found here. While the first meeting represented the transition to the HLPF, the theme of the second meeting was: “Achieving the Millennium Development Goals and charting the way for an ambitious post-2015 development agenda including the Sustainable Development Goals”. The eight-day meeting took place from 30 June – 9 July 2014 at the UN Headquarters in New York, (USA) and was held under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) coordinating the work between the bureau of ECOSOC and the Second and Third Committee of the General Assembly.

The second day of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF-2) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) started with a presentation of a prototype Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR). Moderated dialogues took place on: how to improve the conversation between science and policy: scope and methodology of a global sustainable development report; ideas and trends that can shape the lives of present and future generations; island voices, global choices: promoting genuine and durable partnerships; and countries in special situations: building resilience. Further information about the second meeting can be found here. Under following link a report about the work on formulating global sustainable development goals can be found here.
