New project on “green lifestyles” started: GLAMURS

On the last two days of January 2014, the EU FP7 Project GLAMURS started with a kick-off meeting in La Coruña/Spain: “Green Lifestyes, Alternative Models and Upscaling Regional Sustainability” is what the project team of 11 European research institutions will be working on until the end of 2016. Coordinated by the Einvironmental Psychology Group at the University of La Coruña around 50 researchers will work on “what lifestyles are” and how these will or will not change towards contributing to sustainable development. Some 35 of them gathered in Galicia for a two days meeting in order to get to know each other, exchange first ideas and agree on the first steps to be taken to start the project. The main challenges identified concern the integration not only of various disciplnes involved (psychology, economics, philosophy, communication or carbon footprinting) but also to involve those we address: pioneers of sustainable lifestyles as well people who do not yet include considerations of sustainability in their activities and choices. In 7 regions all over Europe groups pioneering in sustainable lifestyles will contribute their knowledge to the project. Results from the project will also be communicated to EU policy makers in two workshops in Brussels during the course of the project. SERI is especially involved in the dissemination of the project, which includes the setting up of the website, newsletters, videos, a blog and the organisation of two workshhops with policy makers in Brussels. Our contribution will be coordinated by Christine Ax who is also coordinating the dissemination work package throughout the project. Follow the project on twitter: #GLAMURS
